Three Arms, One Mission: North Pocono Silences North East Connell in District 17 Action

SPRING BROOK TWP. — Strong pitching often sets the tone in tournament baseball, and North Pocono’s Majors All-Stars received exactly that Monday evening.

Behind a combined three-hit shutout from Benjamin Carr, Antonio Pellegrino and Bo West, North Pocono earned a 5-0 victory over North East Connell in a District 17 Majors pool play matchup at Aston Field.

North Pocono wasted little time grabbing the lead.

After putting runners aboard in the opening inning, Benjamin Carr delivered an RBI single to score the game’s first run and give the hosts an early 1-0 advantage.

The offense continued to manufacture runs throughout the evening.

A sacrifice fly by Bo West plated another run in the third inning before North Pocono added two more in the fourth and another insurance run in the fifth to build a comfortable lead.

While the offense steadily added to the scoreboard, the pitching staff made sure it would be more than enough.

Carr opened the game with 2⅔ hitless innings, striking out four while allowing just one walk to earn the victory. Antonio Pellegrino followed with 2⅓ scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out two, before West closed the door with a perfect sixth inning, recording two strikeouts to complete the combined shutout.

North Pocono finished with eight hits, led by Elijah Snyder and James Walsh, who each recorded two-hit performances. West drove in a game-high two RBIs, while Carr and Emmett Moran each added an RBI. Jason Sheehan, Snyder, Walsh, Moran and Dante Diandriola also contributed key hits throughout the contest.

Despite being held off the scoreboard, North East Connell continued to battle throughout the game.

Christopher Kulick, Colby Davis, and Daniel Kohut each collected a hit for NEC, while Davis battled through 3⅔ innings on the mound before Evan LaCapra finished the contest in relief.

North Pocono’s defense backed its pitchers throughout the night, allowing just three hits while striking out eight batters in the shutout effort.

The victory sets up an exciting showdown Wednesday, as North Pocono travels to face Abington Blue in a matchup featuring two teams off to strong starts in District 17 play.
