NORTHEAST PA — NEPA Elite Volleyball Club continued to make a strong statement across the state this past weekend, with multiple teams competing in tournaments in State College, Harrisburg, and Reading. From championship finishes to gold-bracket performances, the club showcased the depth, development, and competitive culture that continues to elevate volleyball throughout Northeast Pennsylvania.
At the Nittany Valley February Freeze in State College on Saturday, NEPA Elite teams competed across several age divisions. The 16U Wildfire battled through a competitive field to reach the gold bracket, ultimately finishing fifth overall after a determined run. The 14U Blizzard took on the challenge of playing up two age divisions in the 16U tournament and delivered an impressive performance, capturing third place in the silver bracket while earning multiple set wins against older competition.
One of the highlights of the weekend came in the 16U finals, where 15U Lightning and 16U Earthquake faced off in an all-club championship match. Both teams demonstrated high-level play and composure in a tightly contested battle, with Earthquake securing the victory in a close and intense final.
Meanwhile, the 14U Heat boys competed in Reading, finishing second in pool play and placing third overall. The group continues to show steady growth and momentum as they prepare for their final event of the season in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Sunday brought another busy slate of competition. The 15U Lightning joined 15U Cyclone at the 15U Series in Harrisburg, where Lightning completed an undefeated run to capture the gold championship. Despite a demanding two-day schedule, the team maintained high energy and consistency throughout the tournament. Cyclone delivered a strong performance as well, finishing third after a narrow three-set semifinal loss decided by just two points.
Back in State College, the 14U Waves and 14U Riptides competed in the 14U division at the February Freeze, while 14U Blizzard returned to the gold bracket once again in a large field featuring more than 40 teams across the weekend. Their continued success highlighted the program’s growing strength at the younger levels.
Coach K, Director and Head Coach of NEPA Elite Volleyball Club, reflected on the program’s growth and the athletes’ performance throughout the weekend:
“I’m incredibly proud of our athletes and coaches. This weekend wasn’t just about wins or finishes — it was about growth, resilience, and the way our teams competed for each other. We had groups playing up in age divisions, battling through long two-day schedules, and still finding ways to push forward with energy and heart. That speaks volumes about the culture we’re building at NEPA Elite.”
“What stands out most is how our athletes represent Northeast Pennsylvania. They support one another, they compete the right way, and they continue to raise the standard for volleyball in our region. Seeing multiple teams succeed across different tournaments shows that our program is moving in the right direction, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.”
NEPA Elite Volleyball Club’s presence throughout the weekend reflected the organization’s commitment to athlete development, teamwork, and competitive excellence. With teams consistently competing across multiple divisions and earning strong finishes, the club continues to build its reputation as a leader in the growth of volleyball across Northeast Pennsylvania and beyond.
