The Nativity BVM High School baseball team made a powerful statement Monday, capturing its third straight 1A District championship with an emphatic 11-0 victory over Moravian Academy in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.
Nativity wasted no time taking control, erupting for six runs in the opening inning to put Moravian on its heels immediately. The Green Wave added two more runs in both the second and third innings before plating another run in the fourth to seal the dominant performance.
Offensively, Nativity pounded out 10 hits while displaying patience at the plate with seven walks. The team finished with 11 runs, eight RBIs, and struck out only once in 21 official at-bats.
Leading the offensive attack was N. Clarke, who went 2-for-3 with a double, one run scored, and two RBIs. Trey Keating also delivered a strong performance, finishing with two hits in three at-bats while scoring a run. Keating added a double of his own as Nativity consistently found gaps in the Moravian defense.
C. Kalkiewicz contributed extra-base power as well, ripping a triple during the offensive outburst.
While the bats stole the spotlight early, Nativity’s pitching staff was equally impressive. Ryan Grabowski and Steven Karinch combined to throw a perfect game across five innings, not allowing a single baserunner. The duo also combined for nine strikeouts in the championship clincher.
The victory marks the third consecutive District 1A title for Nativity, continuing an impressive run of dominance for the program and sending the Green Wave into the state playoffs with momentum and confidence.
