Mountaineers Make a Statement as Dallas Powers Past Abington Heights

DALLAS TWP. — Dallas entered Friday night looking to measure itself against one of District 2’s most respected programs.
The Mountaineers walked away with an emphatic answer.
Behind a relentless rushing attack and an efficient performance from quarterback Talan Geskey, Dallas scored touchdowns on each of its first six possessions and rolled to a 42-23 nonconference victory over Abington Heights at Mountaineer Stadium.
The victory improved Dallas to 3-0 and continued an impressive opening stretch for head coach Rich Mannello’s team. Abington Heights fell to 1-2.
Senior Hunter Pitcavage led the way with 136 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries. His performance carried additional meaning after he suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Comets during the 2025 season.
Pitcavage opened the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter. Sophomore Marc Saracinaj followed with a 3-yard score, giving Dallas a 14-0 advantage before the opening quarter ended.
Abington Heights answered early in the second quarter when quarterback Gavin Shay connected with Race Moraski for an 11-yard touchdown, trimming the deficit to 14-7.
Dallas never allowed the Comets to seize the momentum.
Pitcavage capped a methodical 15-play drive with his second touchdown, scoring from three yards out to restore the Mountaineers’ two-score advantage. A 32-yard field goal from Abington Heights kicker Jack Hartshorn made it 21-10 at halftime.
The Mountaineers pulled away after the break.
Geskey scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak before Saracinaj added his second touchdown on a 4-yard run, pushing the Dallas lead to 35-10 late in the third quarter.
Abington Heights briefly cut into the deficit when Shay found Rodman Azar for a 12-yard touchdown early in the fourth. Dallas responded just over three minutes later as Pitcavage broke loose for a 40-yard scoring run, completing his three-touchdown night and putting the Mountaineers ahead 42-17.
Jayden Anglin added a late 1-yard touchdown for the Comets and finished with 154 rushing yards, but Dallas had already secured control.
The Mountaineers piled up 401 yards of total offense, including 277 on the ground, while producing 20 first downs and never punting. Dallas was also perfect in the red zone and did not turn the ball over.
Saracinaj complemented Pitcavage with 87 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Geskey completed 10 of 12 passes for 124 yards while adding 49 yards and a score on the ground. Bobby Gallagher led the Dallas receivers with three catches for 52 yards.
The Mountaineers’ balance made them difficult to contain. Dallas consistently controlled the line of scrimmage, stayed ahead of the chains and answered every time Abington Heights threatened to make the game competitive.
Dallas will now carry an unbeaten record, and plenty of momentum, into the next stage of its schedule after delivering its most complete offensive performance of the young season.
