On January 20th, 2026, the Lewisburg Green Dragons took down Mount Carmel to advance to 11-4 on the season. Cooper Mowry led the Green Dragons in scoring with 21 points.

Q1 –

Lewisburg guard Leon Tucker II set the pace for the first quarter as he delivered the first points of the game with a trey. Lewisburg Green Dragon Cortland Michaels added on a two to put Lewisburg up by five. Mount Carmel then connected for two followed by three-pointers from both sides (8-5 Lewisburg). Lewisburg proceeded to go on a 9-0 run with baskets from Nazir Meredith, Cortland Michaels, and Leon Tucker II. As the quarter neared an end, Jude Lazicki and Jaylen Delaney each scored four points for the Tornadoes. In between the Tornadoes’ buckets, Cortland Michaels scored two points, and Leon Tucker II scored his 9th, 10th, 11th points of the first quarter from a three pointer (22-13 Lewisburg).

Q2 –

Like the first, The Green Dragons controlled much of the second quarter. Mount Carmel got on the board first with a three-pointer from Jaylen Delaney. Cortland Michaels responded with two points, but Jude Lazicki knocked down another three for the Tornadoes to cut the lead to five. Lewisburg proceeded to go on a 7-0 run with buckets from Rebira Jemana, Leon Tucker II, and Nazir Meredith (31-19 Lewisburg). Zandr Lukoskie then scored his only points of the game off a three-pointer from the left-wing (31-22 Lewisburg). Lewisburg closed the half outscoring Mount Carmel 9-2, allowing the Green Dragons to carry a 16 point lead into halftime.

Q3 –

Cooper Mowry opened the second half with a three-pointer for the Green Dragons. During the third quarter, both teams consistently traded baskets, however, Lewisburg’s three-point shooting gave them a 23-17 advantage at the quarter’s end. Out of the break, Cooper Mowry scored Lewisburg’s first eight points. He knocked down three after three and had a total of 21 points at quarter’s end. During the quarter, Jude Lazicki neutralized Mowry’s scoring with six points. Lazicki’s efforts meant almost nothing because the Green Dragons led by 22 at the end of the quarter.

Q4 –

Both teams split the final quarter at 15 points apiece, but Rebira Jemana helped Lewisburg slam the door. He scored six in four minutes, including a massive one-handed jam (dunk) before the backups entered the game. Lewisburg’s backups outscored Mount Carmel’s backups 5-4. Prior to leaving the game, Jude Lazicki and Daniel Snyder put up points for the Tornadoes, but it clearly wasn’t enough as Lewisburg had already locked up the win (78-56 Final).

Conclusion –

From start to finish, the Green Dragons controlled the pace of the basketball game. Leon Tucker II helped his Dragons grab an early lead, and efforts from numerous Lewisburg starters helped seal the deal. Both of Lewisburg’s wins over Mount Carmel were by more than 15 points, and during this matchup every Lewisburg starter reached double figure scoring. The Green Dragons are now 11-4, and the Tornadoes fell to 10-6.

Postgame –

I met with Cooper Mowry after the game to speak with him about his diligent efforts on the floor.

Ben – “Your now 2-0 against Mount Carmel this season, both wins were in dominant fashion, so what does your team have that Mount Carmel doesn’t?”

Cooper – “We have six guys who are really good players.” Cooper also spoke on his teammate Jaylen Walker, and how his contributions off the bench mean a lot to the team.

Ben – “Cooper, you had sixteen points in the third quarter tonight after having just five in the first half, so what was working for you coming out of halftime?

Cooper – In short, Cooper mentioned that Coach Tucker tells him that running the floor is very important. It open lanes and gives Cooper great catch-and-shoot opportunities.

Ben – “How does tonight’s win reflect on the standard here at Lewisburg?”

Cooper – “Since I’ve been a sophomore with Coach Tucker to now, the standard just keeps getting better, and that’s all that matters”.
