It was one of those games where every run mattered.
On Saturday, North Pocono and Liberty went toe-to-toe in a tight, low-scoring battle, but it was the Lady Trojans who found just enough offense late to come away with a 3-2 win.
North Pocono broke through first in the fourth inning when Anna Havenstrite came up clutch with an RBI single to get things started.
Liberty answered right back in the fifth, taking advantage of a fielder’s choice off the bat of Abbie Benner to even things up at 1-1.
With the game hanging in the balance, the Lady Trojans delivered in a big way in the sixth.
Avarie Roscioli and Adysen Iyoob went back-to-back with solo home runs, giving North Pocono the spark it needed and a 3-1 lead heading into the final inning.
From there, it was all about finishing the job.
Amelia Bell was sharp in the circle, picking up the win with three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three. Anna Clementoni also put together a solid outing, going four innings while giving up two runs and striking out three.
Liberty stayed competitive throughout, with Addy Smith going the distance in the circle and Mikayla Seacor leading the offense with two hits from the leadoff spot.
Both teams flashed the glove as well, each turning a double play in a game that stayed tight from start to finish.
North Pocono now turns its attention to Abington Heights as they look to keep things rolling on Tuesday.
