LAKELAND — Mountain View High School opened the PIAA Class 2A girls basketball state playoffs with a hard-fought 50–44 victory over Northwest Area High School Friday night at Lakeland High School.

The Lady Eagles leaned on a standout performance from Addison Kilmer, who scored 23 points to lead Mountain View to the opening-round win. Kilmer was especially effective at the free throw line, knocking down 11 of 13 attempts, helping Mountain View maintain control throughout the game.

Mountain View built its advantage through consistent scoring across the first three quarters. The Lady Eagles led 10–9 after the first, stretched the margin to 23–18 at halftime, and carried a 39–26 lead into the fourth quarter.

Northwest Area mounted a late push in the final period, outscoring Mountain View 18–11. Ali Miner paced the Rangers with 10 points, while Ashlyn Hermanofski added nine. Northwest also got three-point baskets from Natalia Ninotti and Hartley Crawford during the comeback effort, but the rally came up short.

Mountain View also received contributions from Emma Thatcher with nine points, while Aubrey Sanders added eight and Emily Trichilo chipped in six.

With the win, Mountain View — the District 2 Class 2A champion — advances to the second round of the state tournament, where the Lady Eagles will face Faith Christian, the District 1 champion.
