Kilmer Catches Fire as Mountain View Storms Back for 2A Title

WILKES-BARRE — For three quarters, it felt like Wyoming Seminary had complete control.

The Blue Knights dictated the pace, applied relentless pressure, and forced Mountain View into uncomfortable possessions all night. Their press was disruptive and disciplined — trapping, rotating, and making every Eagle touch difficult. It worked.

Seminary led from the opening tip and carried a 10-point advantage into the fourth quarter. Every time Mountain View tried to build momentum, the press slowed it down or forced a mistake.

And then Addison Kilmer flipped the script.

What unfolded in the final eight minutes at Mohegan Arena was grit — and a senior refusing to let her season end quietly.

Kilmer attacked through contact, finished in transition, and calmly stepped to the free-throw line as the comeback started to build. She finished with 31 points, but her fourth-quarter takeover is what will be remembered. Mountain View erupted for 20 points in the final frame, turning a 37-27 deficit into a 47-43 championship victory.

The energy shifted possession by possession. Defensive stops led to run-outs. The press that had been suffocating for three quarters suddenly cracked just enough.

Aubrey Sanders added 14 important points, keeping Mountain View within reach until the final surge took over.

Wyoming Seminary, led by Ella Stambaugh’s 16 points and Stella Ruiz’s 11, executed beautifully for most of the night. Their pressure defense set the tone early and nearly carried them to gold.

But championships often come down to who finishes strongest.

And Mountain View did just that.

Back-to-back Class 2A champions.

An unforgettable comeback.
