On Friday, the Mountaineers beat Crestwood 8-5, despite being down 3-0 at the beginning of the game. This game meant so much more than the win for the Mountaineers.

A family member of a player in the Mountaineers Softball program is currently fighting a courageous battle with breast cancer. Both teams showed support of breast cancer awareness by wearing pink socks with their jerseys. The Mountaineers also donated all profits made from their concession stand to the woman battling cancer and her family.

Crestwood took the lead in the first inning after a single scored one run and an error scored two runs.

The Mountaineers responded, scoring five runs on a string of singles. They extended their lead with two more singles in the bottom of the second.

Annie Osipower showed off her offensive power, leading Dallas with two hits and a home run in the game. Elliot Rigol and Emma Fostock also collected two hits for the Mountaineers. Alyssa Traver doubled and Lacey Youngblood collected 2 RBIs in the win.

Celia Stahlnecker led Crestwood with four hits in four at bats. Alexa Toniatti collected two hits and led the Comets with two RBIs.

Brooke Lenahan took the loss for Crestwood. The starter went six innings, giving up ten hits, eight earned runs, two walks, and collecting five strikeouts.

Youngblood took the win for the Mountaineers. The sophomore went the full seven innings, giving up ten hits, three earned runs, one walk, and collecting eight strikeouts.

The Mountaineers are hoping to keep their winning streak alive against Wilkes Barre Area on Tuesday.
