TUNKHANNOCK — Wellsboro volleyball put together an impressive Saturday, going 11-2 on the day and capturing the Tunkhannock Girls Volleyball Tournament championship with a thrilling 16-14 final-set victory over host Tunkhannock.
The Hornets received contributions throughout the lineup. Ady Frantz finished with 33 points, 11 aces, 24 kills, six blocks and 12 digs, while Peyton Keane added 28 kills and 35 digs.
Kendall Sweet recorded 29 points, eight aces, 17 kills and 23 digs. Wellsboro also received strong production from setters Jillian Mickey and Ellie Largey, who combined for 90 assists while adding 28 digs.
After a long day of tournament volleyball, the Hornets saved one of their biggest performances for the finish, edging the host Tigers 16-14 to bring the tournament title back to Wellsboro.
