Delaware Valley hosted Holy Redeemer girls lacrosse this evening, and it was a tightly contested defensive showdown that saw Holy Redeemer emerge victorious with a 6 to 4 win on the road. The game was a testament to both teams' defensive efforts, limiting scoring opportunities throughout the contest.
Holy Redeemer's offense found just enough rhythm to pull ahead, with Allie Desciak leading the charge, netting three crucial goals and adding two assists. Cali Glaser contributed with a goal and two assists, showcasing her playmaking ability. Izzy Wasley also found the back of the net once while adding an assist, and Gillian Parsons rounded out the scoring with a goal. The team's defensive intensity was matched by the excellent goaltending of Irelyn Curley, who made five saves to preserve the win. Cali Glaser and Gillian Parsons were active all over the field, each securing two ground balls and two draw controls respectively, with Parsons also grabbing three ground balls. Coach Jack and the entire coaching staff certainly had their team prepared for the defensive battle.
For Delaware Valley, Brooke Palmeri scored one goal, while Rhianna Rethinger also tallied a goal and recorded an assist. Mckenzie Heath was the top scorer for Delaware Valley, finding the back of the net twice. Despite their best efforts, the home team couldn't quite close the gap in the low-scoring affair.
Allie Desciak delivered an outstanding performance for Holy Redeemer, proving to be the offensive catalyst in a game where goals were hard to come by. Her three goals accounted for half of her team's total, and her two assists were crucial in setting up other scoring plays. In a defensive struggle, Desciak's ability to consistently create and convert offensive opportunities made her the clear player of the game.
