Five Straight One Left Valley Keeps Championship Dream Alive in South Williamsport

The Valley All-Stars (8-9-10 Minors) refused to let their season end Sunday evening, defeating Bullskin Little League 7-4 to force a winner-take-all Pennsylvania State Championship game at the Little League Softball State Tournament in South Williamsport.

After Bullskin grabbed an early 1-0 lead on a passed ball in the opening inning, Valley answered emphatically.

The District 17 champions erupted for five runs in the bottom of the first, sending the dugout into celebration. The biggest swing came from Grace Eboli, who laced a two-run triple after a seven-pitch at-bat to ignite the rally.

Valley added two more insurance runs in the third, capitalizing on a Bullskin error before Liliana Smargiassi delivered an RBI single to extend the lead to 7-1.

Nora Piercy set the tone both in the circle and at the plate. The starter tossed three innings of two-hit ball, allowing just one unearned run while striking out two, then helped her own cause by going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored.

Eboli came on in relief to secure the final three innings, allowing three runs while striking out three to earn the save and send Valley into Monday’s championship.

Valley finished with 10 hits, led by Piercy’s three-hit performance. Eliza Iyoob added two hits and scored twice, while Liliana Smargiassi collected two hits and drove in two runs. Grace Eboli and Mackenzie Thomas also finished with two RBIs apiece.

The win marks Valley’s fifth consecutive elimination-game victory after dropping its opening matchup to Bullskin Wednesday. Now, the two teams will meet one final time Monday at 530pm with the Pennsylvania State Championship on the line.
