Fast Start, Loud Finish: Old Forge Makes a Statement at Home

Old Forge came into Friday night with something to prove, and the Blue Devils wasted no time showing it.

Fresh off a tough loss to Riverside, SportzWire’s No. 9-ranked team in District 2 stormed out of the gates and never looked back, rolling past Mid Valley 58–31 in a Division II boys basketball matchup at Old Forge.

The opening quarter told the story. Old Forge blitzed the Spartans 23–2 in the first eight minutes, turning defensive pressure into quick buckets and setting a tone Mid Valley simply couldn’t recover from. By the time the Spartans found their rhythm, the damage was already done.

Logan Fanning was the catalyst. The athletic forward scored 10 of his game-high 22 points in the first quarter, attacking early and often as Old Forge built a commanding lead. Cameron Parker followed suit with a strong all-around night, finishing with 19 points while providing steady leadership on both ends of the floor.

While Old Forge controlled the tempo, Mid Valley continued to show why it’s considered one of the tougher outs in the league. The Spartans have gone toe-to-toe with top programs like Valley View and Riverside this season, and Friday was no exception in effort. Landon Pratt led Mid Valley with 15 points, battling all night and keeping the Spartans competitive through stretches of the middle quarters.

Old Forge’s balance ultimately separated the two. Cam Krushnowski chipped in from deep, Arthur Askew added timely points, and the Blue Devils’ defense limited clean looks throughout the night. After building the early cushion, Old Forge stayed composed, winning every quarter but one and never allowing Mid Valley back into striking distance.

With the decisive win, Old Forge improves to 10–3 overall and 5–1 in league play, continuing to build momentum and eyeing a move up the District 2 rankings. Performances like this - fast, physical, and focused - are exactly the kind that get noticed as the postseason picture begins to take shape.

For Mid Valley, the scoreboard didn’t reflect the fight, but the Spartans once again showed they’re capable of hanging with anyone on a given night. For Old Forge, this was about response, and it was a loud one.
