DALLAS, PA — Sometimes it only takes one inning to flip a game, and Dallas made sure of that Monday.

After falling behind early, the Mountaineers answered with a six-run first inning and never looked back, pulling away for a 10-5 win over Wilkes-Barre.

The Wolfpack came out swinging. Derrick Nah got them on the board with a two-run shot, and Nathan Fritz followed with an RBI double to give Wilkes-Barre a quick 3-0 lead.

But Dallas didn’t panic, they responded.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Mountaineers took advantage of their chances, stringing together a big rally that included patience at the plate and a costly error that brought in two runs. Just like that, the game flipped to 6-3, and the energy shifted with it.

From there, Dallas settled in.

Dylan Chapman and Peyton VanValkenburgh delivered in the middle of the lineup, each driving in two runs. VanValkenburgh also led the way with two hits, while Brady Youngblood and Kevin Osipower helped keep the pressure on by drawing multiple walks.

Wilkes-Barre kept fighting.

Jake Howe put together a strong day at the plate, going 3-for-4, and added a solo home run in the third. Nah chipped in two RBIs, while Koleton Davies and Tyler Daugherty each added multiple hits as the Wolfpack finished with 12 as a team.

On the mound, Conor Healey worked through six innings for Dallas, battling through traffic and limiting damage when it mattered most. Luca Pietraccini came on in relief and closed things out with a clean inning.

Fritz handled the start for Wilkes-Barre, striking out four over four innings, but the early damage proved tough to overcome.

Dallas used one big inning, and a steady approach the rest of the way, to take control of this one. They will look to carry that momentum into Wednesday when they host Wyoming Valley West.
