Fantasy Football Week 4: Five Matchups Built for Big Numbers

Three weeks into the season, the picture is getting clearer. Offensive roles are taking shape, defensive weaknesses are emerging, and certain matchups are becoming easier to target.
Several of the games we circled delivered, now, here are five Week 4 matchups that stand out.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Cincinnati Bengals
If you’re searching for fantasy production, this is a good place to start.
The projected total has climbed to 51.5 points, the highest on the Week 4 slate, with Cincinnati carrying an implied total around 27 points and Jacksonville sitting at 24.5.
That immediately puts Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Chase Brown in strong spots.
Jacksonville may offer even more intrigue.
Trevor Lawrence is coming off a three-touchdown performance against New England, and Cincinnati’s struggling pass defense gives the Jaguars another opportunity to attack through the air.
Parker Washington has worked his way into weekly relevance, while Brian Thomas Jr. could be positioned for the kind of bounce-back performance managers have been waiting for.
Jakobi Meyers and Brenton Strange also carry deeper-league appeal in a matchup that could produce plenty of passing volume.
Jacksonville’s backfield faces a tougher assignment against an improved Bengals run defense, but Bhayshul Tuten has done enough to remain in the RB2 conversation.
Fantasy angle: There are playmakers everywhere in the highest-total game of the week.
Detroit Lions at Carolina Panthers
Detroit’s offense is starting to look exactly like managers hoped it would.
The Lions enter Week 4 averaging 31 points per game and carrying an implied total around 27 in a matchup with a 50.5-point over/under.
Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown remain automatic starts, while Jared Goff continues to benefit from one of the league’s better offensive environments.
Jameson Williams and Sam LaPorta also stay firmly in play, particularly against a Carolina secondary dealing with injuries.
Don’t ignore the Panthers, either.
Bryce Young threw for 291 yards despite heavy pressure against Cleveland. If Detroit jumps ahead, Carolina could once again be forced into an aggressive passing script.
That creates volume for Tetairoa McMillan, Jalen Coker and Darren Waller against a Detroit defense that has been vulnerable through the air.
Chuba Hubbard also remains a viable option regardless of game script.
Fantasy angle: Detroit brings the firepower, while Carolina could bring the volume.
Indianapolis Colts at Washington Commanders
This matchup may not have the same shootout potential, but several individual spots are appealing.
The total sits around 46.5 points, with Indianapolis entering as roughly a four-point favorite in London.
Jonathan Taylor remains the centerpiece of the Colts’ offense and an obvious start.
Tyler Warren may be one of the more interesting positional plays of the week. Washington has struggled against opposing tight ends, giving Warren a chance to outperform his usual projection.
Keenan Allen also remains firmly in the conversation after leading Indianapolis with nine targets, six catches, 63 yards and a touchdown. Josh Downs has flex appeal as well against a Washington secondary that has struggled with opposing wide receivers.
The Commanders’ quarterback situation will be worth watching, but an Indianapolis lead could force Washington into added passing volume.
That would help Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs.
Fantasy angle: The total is modest, but the positional matchups offer several useful advantages.
Dallas Cowboys at Houston Texans
Houston may be the side to attack most heavily here.
The Texans enter as slight favorites in a game with a projected total around 47.5 points, and Dallas has already shown vulnerability against opposing passing attacks.
That puts C.J. Stroud in an appealing spot.
Nico Collins could also return after missing the previous two games with a hamstring injury. If he’s active and not significantly limited, this is the type of matchup that could put him right back into a prominent role.
Houston’s running game deserves attention too, with David Montgomery and Woody Marks drawing a defense that has been susceptible to opposing backs.
Dallas is less matchup-dependent.
Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and Javonte Williams remain difficult to move out of lineups based on talent and usage.
Jake Ferguson is a more matchup-sensitive decision.
Fantasy angle: Houston gets the cleaner matchup, while Dallas still has enough proven talent to keep the game productive.
Kansas City Chiefs at Las Vegas Raiders
Kansas City heads to Las Vegas with an implied total around 26 points in another game sitting near 47.5 overall.
The Chiefs are favored by approximately 4.5 points, creating the kind of competitive environment managers should welcome.
Patrick Mahomes II, Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice are lineup fixtures when healthy.
The intrigue comes further down the depth chart.
Xavier Worthy and Tyquan Thornton could benefit if Las Vegas keeps the game competitive and forces Kansas City to stay aggressive.
The Raiders showed some offensive life last week by scoring 35 points, which matters for Kansas City’s outlook.
Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers remain the primary Raiders options, while Tre Tucker offers some deeper-league appeal.
Fantasy angle: Kansas City’s core plays are obvious, but a competitive game could lift the secondary options too.
Week 4 Outlook
Jacksonville-Cincinnati carries the week’s highest projected scoring environment. Detroit-Carolina could create strong passing volume. Indianapolis-Washington offers several favorable positional matchups. Houston gets a Dallas defense that has struggled through the air, while Kansas City-Las Vegas has enough offensive potential to stay productive throughout.
The stars will usually take care of themselves.
The real edge comes from identifying the players just below that tier who land in the right matchup.
