The Elk Lake Warriors snatched a thrilling 7-6 victory from the Carbondale Area Chargers on Thursday, with Cohen Orlandini delivering the decisive blow in the bottom of the sixth. His single broke a tense six-all tie, sealing the win for Elk Lake.

Carbondale Area drew first blood, putting up two runs in the opening frame, sparked by Nate Ulmer's RBI single. Not to be outdone, Elk Lake quickly responded in the second, evening the score at two apiece thanks to a sharp single to center by Colby Ruark.

The back-and-forth battle continued into the third. Carbondale Area capitalized on an Elk Lake error to plate two more runs, and Mitchell Masco's ground out pushed their advantage to 5-2. But the Warriors refused to yield, unleashing a four-run surge in the bottom of the third to seize a 6-5 lead. Brayden Miller kickstarted the rally with an RBI double, Stephen Newhart followed suit with another double to drive in a run, and Colby Ruark capped the explosive inning with a crucial two-run single.

Carbondale Area proved their mettle, battling back in the top of the fifth. Mitchell Masco delivered a clutch single down the left field line, once again knotting the game at six.

On the bump for Elk Lake, Brayden Miller worked through four and one-third innings, surrendering seven hits and six runs (three earned) while fanning nine and walking one. Carbondale Area's Johnny Gorel handled five innings, giving up eight hits and seven runs (four earned), striking out six and issuing one walk. Nathaniel Thurman then entered in relief for Elk Lake, shutting down the Chargers over one and two-thirds scoreless innings. He allowed just one hit, struck out two, and walked two, ultimately earning the hard-fought victory.

The Warriors finished with nine hits to Carbondale Area's eight, and both teams were charged with three errors in a tightly contested affair.
