The 2025-26 high school basketball season is heating up across Pennsylvania. Division play is in full swing and the playoffs are only one month away. SportzWire has been running a weekly top 10 coaches poll, and here are the rankings for Jan. 18.

Disclaimer, the rankings come from the coaches.

No. 1 Hazleton Area 15-1

Hazleton is undefeated against Pennsylvania teams this season and has won 11 straight games, all by at least 10 points. The Lady Cougars went 3-0 last week with wins over Berwick, Wilkes-Barre and District XI’s Emmaus, with all three wins coming by 30 or more points. This week’s schedule features two road trips to Wyoming Valley West and Pittston Area.

No. 2 Dallas 16-1

After suffering its first loss of the season to Hazleton on Jan. 8 69-52, Dallas has won four straight including a 47-38 win at home vs No. 3 Crestwood. That win moved Dallas to the No. 1 seed in the AAAAA bracket. This week starts with a home game vs Pittston then the Lady Mountaineers visit Berwick.

No. 3 Crestwood 15-2

Crestwood’s only two losses have come to the top two teams in the area and all but one of its wins have come by at least 20 points. The Lady Comets responded to the Dallas loss by beating Pittston by 33 points at home. Crestwood continues its homestand against Wilkes-Barre Area and Wyoming Valley West this week.

No. 4 Dunmore 11-2

Dunmore reached 100 straight Lackawanna League Division II wins with its latest victory over Honesdale. The Lady Bucks have won five straight games and should be favorites in both the division and district playoff races. The three-game week includes trips to Old Forge and Lakeland before a home game against Easton.

No. 5 North Pocono 11-3

North Pocono has flown under the radar but four straight wins, including victories over No. 6 Scranton Prep and No. 8 Abington Heights, have catapulted the Trojans into the top 10. This week features home games against Delaware Valley and Scranton before North Pocono finishes with five of its final six games on the road.

No. 6 Scranton Prep 8-5

The loss total may be higher than Scranton Prep is used to, but only three came against District II schools and by a combined nine points. The Classics followed up road losses to No. 5 North Pocono and No. 7 Valley View with a 13 point win vs No. 8 Abington Heights. Scranton Prep has two home games this week against Wallenpaupack and Delaware Valley.

No. 7 Valley View 12-2

Valley View currently holds the top seed in the AAAA bracket and won 11 straight games before it lost to No. 8 Abington Heights at home this past Thursday. The Lady Cougars will now hit the road for a road trip to Scranton and face the Lady Knights and Lady Invaders this week.

No. 8 Abington Heights 9-5

The Lady Comets scored a huge road win over No. 7 Valley View to rebound after two consecutive losses. Abington Heights has now won three of its last five games and this week the Lady Comets will host West Scranton before visiting Wallenpaupack.

No. 9 Nanticoke 13-3

The Trojanettes are the second seed in AAAA currently with two of their losses coming to No. 2 Dallas and No. 3 Crestwood in back-to-back games. Since then, they are undefeated in 2026 with five straight wins, including a home win over Holy Redeemer. The Trojanettes face No. 10 Wyoming Seminary and Tunkhannock this week and both contests are on the road.

No. 10 Wyoming Seminary 11-3

Wyoming Seminary is the No. 1 seed in AA right now and has not lost a game since Dec. 19. The Lady Blue Knights avenged an early season loss to Lake-Lehman with a come from behind 46-41 victory on the road. They will have a chance to avenge another early season loss against No. 10 Nanticoke at home before facing Hanover Area on the road this week.

Bubble

Holy Redeemer 11-5

The Lady Royals have lost four of their last seven, but two of those losses were to New York schools and the other two came against teams ranked in the top 10. Holy Redeemer still holds the No. 2 seed in the AAA bracket and this week hosts MMI before facing Lake-Lehman on the road.

Scranton 6-8

The Lady Knights have had a tough schedule but have won three straight and four of their last six games. This week presents a tough slate, starting with No. 7 Valley View coming to town and then a road trip to No. 5 North Pocono.
