As the 2025-26 high school basketball season heats up in Pennsylvania, District II teams are gearing up for runs at division and conference championships as well as the playoffs. Every game is crucial and SportzWire has been conducting a coaches poll every week of the season. Here is a breakdown of the top 10 from 1/18.

Disclaimer, the rankings come from the coaches.

No. 1 Dunmore 13-1

Following their loss to No. 5 Scranton Prep in the Lynett Tournament final, the Bucks have won five straight. That stretch includes a road win over previously undefeated No. 3 Riverside at home. Dunmore returns home to face No. 7 Old Forge and Lakeland this week.

No. 2 Dallas 14-3

The Mountaineers’ three losses have all been to non-district opponents and the team has won five straight games. Wins over Wilkes-Barre Area and at No. 9 Crestwood have propelled Dallas to the No. 3 seed in the AAAA bracket. This week the Mountaineers face Pittston on the road and return home to face Nanticoke.

No. 3 Riverside 13-1

Despite the loss to No. 1 Dunmore, the Vikings still hold the No. 1 seed in the AAA bracket. Riverside has won three straight games, including a win vs No. 7 Old Forge and Lakeland, where sophomore Nico Antoniacci scored his 1,000 career point. This week Riverside hosts Western Wayne and pays a visit to rival Holy Cross.

No. 4 Abington Heights 9-5

The Comets dealt No. 5 Scranton Prep its first district loss of the season. Thanks to that 23 point victory and a win vs No.6 Valley View, Abington Heights is currently the top seed in class AAAAA. The Comets will carry a five game win streak into this week with matchups at West Scranton and home vs Wallenpaupack on deck.

No. 5 Scranton Prep 9-3

The Cavaliers won seven straight games prior to the aforementioned loss to No. 4 Abington Heights, including a Lynett Tournament championship over No. 1 Dunmore. This week, Scranton Prep hosts Wallenpaupack then goes on the road to Delaware Valley.

No. 6 Valley View 12-2

The Cougars started the season 10-0, which included wins over Holy Cross and No. 7 Old Forge, but dropped two road games to No. 5 Scranton Prep and No. 4 Abington Heights. This week Valley View welcomes Scranton and West Scranton to the Cougar Den.

No. 7 Old Forge 10-3

The Blue Devils are the top seed in AA with two of their losses coming to ranked teams and the third being to a team on the bubble. All three losses have been by less than 10 points. Old Forge owns wins over Holy Cross and No. 8 Wyoming Area. This week the Blue Devils will travel to No. 1 Dunmore and Honesdale.

No. 8 Wyoming Area 14-1

The Warriors only loss came to No. 7 Old Forge and 10 of their wins were by double digits. Luke Kopetchny scored 1,000 career points against Lake-Lehman to highlight a seven game win streak for Wyoming Area. The Warriors face Tunkhannock on the road and MMI Prep at home this week.

No. 9 Crestwood 11-5

The Comets carried a five game win streak into last week, highlighted by a 23 point road win vs Hazleton, before losing to No. 2 Dallas 53-38 at home and then Pittston 43-39 on the road in overtime. Crestwood will try to get right on the road against Wilkes-Barre Area and Wyoming Valley West this week.

No. 10 Elk Lake 13-1

The Warriors have won 10 straight games dating back to Dec. 15 and are the No. 3 seed in the AAA bracket. They will look to continue their win streak on the road vs Montrose and at home vs Forest City this week.

Bubble

Wilkes-Barre Area 9-6

The Wolfpack are on the bubble after a 77-72 overtime loss at Dallas that snapped a three game winning streak and a 51-45 loss vs Hazleton. WBA did beat Nanticoke to get back in the win column and will return home this week for a rematch with No. 9 Crestwood.
