DALLAS — The No. 2 seed Dallas Mountaineers punched their ticket to the PIAA District 2 Class 5A semifinals Wednesday night with a commanding 45-22 win over No. 7 Wallenpaupack.

Dallas (20-3) controlled the game from the outset, leaning on its defense and balanced scoring attack to steadily pull away. Mia DelGaudio and Odessa Kanton each scored 12 points to pace the Mountaineers, while Molly Walsh added 10 in a composed, efficient team effort.

The Mountaineers tightened the screws defensively after the opening quarter, limiting Wallenpaupack to just 14 points over the final three periods. Dallas also capitalized at the free-throw line, knocking down 15 shots to maintain control and keep momentum firmly in its favor.

Ashley Vanderputten led Wallenpaupack (8-15) with six points, but the Lady Buckhorns struggled to find consistent offense against Dallas’ disciplined half-court defense.

Now, the road gets tougher.

Dallas will meet a red-hot North Pocono squad in the semifinals — a team that has surged at the right time and is playing with confidence after a strong postseason start. With both teams trending upward, the matchup sets the stage for a high-intensity battle with a championship berth on the line.

The Mountaineers have shown balance, poise, and defensive toughness all season. But against a North Pocono team riding momentum, Dallas will need that same edge — and perhaps another level — as the district tournament heats up.
