The District II AAA Quarterfinals saw a spirited lacrosse matchup between Delaware Valley and Northampton, where Delaware Valley ultimately prevailed with a 7-5 victory to advance in the playoffs. It was a tight contest throughout, with both teams showing flashes of offensive brilliance and strong defensive stands.
Delaware Valley’s offense was firing on all cylinders, spreading the love with multiple goal scorers. Chris Devaney and Colin McGarvey each found the back of the net twice, providing crucial scores at key moments. Tyler Husejnovic chipped in with a goal of his own and was instrumental in setting up plays, tallying two assists. Michael Iuzzolino and Adam Myers also contributed to the scoring spree, each adding a single goal to the scoreboard. Northampton, however, refused to back down, battling hard and keeping the pressure on. Ashton Dremock was a standout for Northampton, netting two goals with impressive precision. Davyn Holland was another key contributor, scoring one goal and adding two assists to keep his team in contention. Parker Nagy and Brady Woolslayer each added a goal, showcasing Northampton's ability to create scoring opportunities.
Between the pipes, both goalies had their work cut out for them, and they delivered. For Delaware Valley, Riley Smith was a brick wall, racking up 13 saves to deny Northampton's persistent attacks. On the other side, Cooper Fry for Northampton was equally impressive, making 12 saves in a valiant effort to keep his team within striking distance.
In the end, Delaware Valley’s offensive depth and Riley Smith's strong performance proved to be the difference maker, as they secured the 7-5 win. They will now move on to the District II AAA Semifinals, where they are set to face Parkland next Tuesday, June 19th, at Emmaus.
Colin McGarvey earns Player of the Game honors for his impactful two-goal, one-assist performance.
