The Dallas Mountaineers continued their late-season surge Saturday, capturing the Wyoming Valley Conference championship with a hard-earned 43–38 victory over Crestwood. In a matchup defined by physical defense, pressure, and momentum swings, Dallas delivered a strong second-half performance to secure its third win over the Comets this season and carry serious momentum into district play.
After a tightly contested first half, Dallas elevated its execution on both ends of the floor following the break. The Mountaineers found ways to generate offense despite Crestwood’s relentless defensive pressure, showing patience and toughness in key possessions. Tyce Mason led the scoring effort for Dallas with 13 points, while Kael Berry added 10 and Pat Flanagan chipped in with 8, providing timely baskets that helped Dallas create separation during pivotal stretches of the game.
Crestwood battled throughout and refused to fade, led by Ayden Agapito’s 12 points and Connor Wagaman’s 10-point effort. Gio Barna added 8 points as the Comets kept the championship clash competitive deep into the fourth quarter. Despite Crestwood’s strong push, Dallas leaned on disciplined defense and clutch free-throw shooting to maintain control late and seal the victory.
The Mountaineers’ ability to adjust and produce offensively in the second half proved to be the difference, highlighting a team that continues to grow stronger as the postseason approaches. With the WVC title secured and three wins over a talented Crestwood squad this season, Dallas now turns its attention toward districts riding confidence, cohesion, and momentum — a dangerous combination for any opponent ahead.
