Dallas showed resilience and composure when it mattered most, rallying late to defeat Valley View 46–43 in the District 2 Class 4A semifinals Friday night.
With the game tied at 43 in the closing moments, Pat Flanagan delivered the defining play of the night, drilling a clutch three-pointer from the top of the key to lift the Mountaineers to a dramatic comeback victory and send Dallas to the championship game.
Flanagan led all scorers with 20 points, stepping up throughout the contest and providing the late heroics that ultimately sealed the win. Kael Berry added 10 points for Dallas, while Joey Nocito chipped in nine, including key baskets during a pivotal third-quarter surge.
Dallas faced adversity early, trailing 29–19 in the first half before regrouping after halftime. The Mountaineers turned the momentum in the third quarter, outscoring Valley View 19–8 to take a narrow 37–36 lead entering the final frame.
Valley View stayed within striking distance behind strong performances from Noah Symuleski (18 points) and Michael Muto (17 points). Muto hit two fourth-quarter three-pointers, including one that tied the game at 43 and set the stage for the dramatic finish.
But Dallas remained poised in crunch time, executing when it mattered most as Flanagan’s late triple capped the comeback and sent the Mountaineers into celebration.
With the win, Dallas advances to the District 2 championship game, where they will face Scranton Prep at Mohegan Arena.
