Dallas Mounts Rally for Commanding Victory Over Crestwood

Triumph felt like a long shot for the Dallas Varsity Mountaineers when the Crestwood lineup exploded in the opening frame. Zack Stavish sparked the initial surge with a well-placed double, bringing home a run, and Avery Brace followed up with a crucial single that plated three more, giving Crestwood a formidable 4-0 advantage early on. It was a statement start, but Dallas had no intention of letting it stand.

The Mountaineers answered emphatically in the bottom of the first, unleashing an eight-run rally built on four hits to seize control, 8-4. The pivotal moment came from Max Scatton, whose single drove in two crucial runs, igniting the dugout and shifting the momentum. Dallas continued to pile on in the second inning, extending their lead when Peyton Vanvalkenburg doubled to right field, coupled with a Crestwood error, each adding a run to the score.

The offensive onslaught persisted in the third as Dallas maintained its relentless pressure. Peyton Vanvalkenburg drew a walk, Michael Viglone grounded out to bring in a run, Max Scatton singled to right field, Charlie Rischawy singled to left field, and Dominick Zangardi capped it off with a single to center field. Each hit and opportune play consistently chipped away at Crestwood’s hopes, pushing the score to a decisive 15-4.

On the mound for Dallas, Dominick Zangardi started the game, navigating through four innings. Despite surrendering four hits and four runs, none were earned, as he struck out seven batters and issued two walks. Crestwood’s starting pitcher, Connor Wagaman, faced a tough outing, giving up four hits and eight runs, only one of which was earned, over one inning, striking out one and walking two. Luca Pietraccini provided strong relief for Dallas, throwing one inning of flawless, no-run ball, striking out three batters without allowing a single hit or walk.

Dallas Varsity Mountaineers are set to host Pittston on Wednesday for their next contest.
