Dallas Makes a Statement, Rolls Past Pittston Area to Stay Unbeaten

YATESVILLE, Pa. — Dallas entered Friday night with an undefeated record. The Mountaineers left Pittston Area with something more, another convincing win and a measure of redemption.

Dallas controlled the game defensively, capitalized on special teams and turned a competitive opening quarter into a runaway, defeating Pittston Area 35–7 at Charley Trippi Stadium.

The victory improved Dallas to 4–0 and continued an impressive start to the 2026 season. It also came one year after Pittston Area handed the Mountaineers a 36–35 overtime defeat in a game that decided the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 championship.

This time, Dallas left little doubt.

Quarterback Talan Geskey directed the Mountaineers’ offense, finishing 7-of-14 passing for 131 yards and a touchdown while adding a team-high 50 rushing yards and another score. Hunter Pitcavage scored twice on the ground and intercepted a pass, while Tyce Mason caught three passes for 58 yards and a touchdown.

Dallas’ defense and special teams did the rest.

After a relatively quiet start, Geskey finished a 10-play, 95-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run with 19 seconds remaining in the first quarter, giving Dallas a 7–0 advantage.

The Mountaineers began creating separation late in the second.

Pitcavage powered into the end zone from six yards out with 2:53 remaining in the half. Dallas then struck again before the break.

Geskey moved the offense down the field in the closing seconds and connected with Mason for a 6-yard touchdown with 16 seconds remaining, sending Dallas into halftime with a commanding 21–0 lead.

Any hopes Pittston Area had of changing the game’s momentum after halftime disappeared quickly.

Dallas pinned the Patriots deep, and Pitcavage scored again less than two minutes into the third quarter to stretch the advantage to 28–0.

Then came the play that effectively ended it.

Bobby Gallagher broke through the Pittston Area protection and blocked a punt. Marc Saracinaj grabbed the loose ball and returned it 13 yards for a touchdown, giving Dallas a 35–0 advantage with 8:30 remaining in the third quarter and putting the mercy rule into effect.

It was a fitting sequence for a night when Dallas consistently won the field-position battle.

The Mountaineers held Pittston Area to just 145 total yards, including 77 on the ground and 68 through the air. Dallas produced 281 total yards and 13 first downs while limiting the Patriots to seven.

Pittston Area managed just three first downs and 58 yards before putting together a late fourth-quarter scoring drive. Levi Pisano finished that possession with a 2-yard touchdown run with 3:32 remaining for the Patriots’ only score.

Dallas’ defensive performance was particularly notable against a Pittston Area team that had scored 50 points in its previous game.

The Mountaineers have now opened the season with four consecutive victories, defeating Tunkhannock 42–0, Wyoming Valley West 45–12, Abington Heights 42–23 and Pittston Area 35–7.

Through four games, Dallas has scored 164 points while allowing just 42.

And after watching Pittston Area celebrate an overtime victory on its field a season ago, Dallas returned the favor Friday night.

Only this time, there was no overtime and very little suspense.

The Mountaineers walked out of Charley Trippi Stadium unbeaten — and with another emphatic early-season statement.

Dallas returns home next Friday to face Wilkes-Barre Area, while Pittston Area travels to Hazleton Area looking to rebound.
