Crestwood Stuns No 6 Hill School in Statement Victory

MOUNTAIN TOP — Crestwood field hockey sent a message that will be heard well beyond District 2 on Friday evening.
The Comets earned a monumental 2-1 victory over nationally ranked The Hill School, knocking off one of the country’s premier programs and remaining unbeaten to begin the 2026 season.
Hill entered the year ranked No. 6 in MAX Field Hockey’s preseason National Top 25, making Friday’s result one of Crestwood’s most impressive regular-season victories in recent memory.
The win improved Crestwood to 4-0 and continued a tremendous opening stretch for the Comets. Crestwood began the season with a 7-0 shutout of Bloomsburg, followed with a 4-1 road victory over Oley Valley and defeated Wyoming Valley West 3-0 before welcoming Hill to Mountain Top.
Through four games, the Comets have outscored their opponents 16-2, recording two shutouts and surrendering only one goal in each of their other two contests.
Friday’s victory was also a measure of redemption.
When the teams met last October, Hill escaped with a 1-0 victory. This time, Crestwood found the additional goal it needed and protected its advantage against a program accustomed to competing—and winning—on the national stage.
Hill entered the matchup after opening its season with a 5-0 victory over William Penn Charter. The Rams have won 14 Mid-Atlantic Prep League championships and captured PAISAA state titles in both 2022 and 2024, completing an undefeated season in 2024.
That history makes Crestwood’s accomplishment even more significant.
This was more than another early-season win. It was proof that the Comets can stand toe-to-toe with elite competition, withstand the pressure of a one-goal game and finish against one of the nation’s most respected programs.
Crestwood will now turn its attention back to Wyoming Valley Conference competition when it hosts Wyoming Area on Monday evening.
The season is still young, but after Friday’s performance, the Comets have firmly established themselves as a team capable of making noise far beyond Northeastern Pennsylvania.
