MARTZ HALL — The dominance of the Crestwood girls basketball team continued Saturday afternoon.

The Comets delivered another statement performance in the PIAA Class 5A quarterfinals, defeating Lampeter-Strasburg 59–35 to advance to the state semifinals and continue what has been a remarkable season for the Mountain Top program.

Crestwood set the tone early, jumping out to a 16–15 lead after the first quarter before taking control in the second. The Comets outscored Lampeter-Strasburg 16–4 in the second quarter, turning a tight game into a comfortable 32–19 halftime lead.

From there, Crestwood never looked back.

Jackie Gallagher led the way with 23 points, while Keira Dougherty added 15 and Jordan Andrews chipped in 10, giving the Comets a balanced offensive effort that has been a trademark of their season.

For Dougherty, the performance continues an inspiring comeback story.

After suffering a torn ACL that sidelined her for all of last season, the senior guard has returned this winter to become one of Crestwood’s key contributors, helping power the Comets on their deep state playoff run.

Crestwood’s win also adds to what has been a dominant season overall. The Comets have consistently handled strong competition throughout the year, piling up impressive victories and proving themselves as one of the top teams in Pennsylvania’s Class 5A field.

Saturday’s quarterfinal victory pushes Crestwood into the PIAA Final Four, where the Comets will face Archbishop Wood, setting up a high-profile semifinal matchup with a trip to the state championship game in Hershey on the line.

With their depth, defense, and experienced leadership, Crestwood continues to show why it has been one of the most dangerous teams in the state all season.

And with the Comets now just one win away from Hershey, their impressive run is far from finished.
