WILKES-BARRE — Under the bright lights of the Mohegan Sun Arena, Crestwood looked exactly like the team that has controlled District 2 Class 5A all winter long.

Composed. Balanced. Relentless.

The Lady Comets powered past North Pocono, 57-32, Saturday night to capture the district championship and punch their ticket to the PIAA state tournament. On a night built for big moments, it also became historic — as Crestwood’s Keira Dougherty and North Pocono’s Ella Clementoni each reached or surpassed the 1,000-point milestone in their careers.

North Pocono entered the arena riding momentum after a statement upset over Dallas to earn its spot in the title game. The Lady Trojans had proven they belonged. But from the opening quarter, Crestwood established control.

The Lady Comets jumped out to an 11-2 lead, setting the tone with defensive pressure that never allowed North Pocono to find consistent rhythm. Shots were contested. Passing lanes were disrupted. Every possession felt difficult.

By halftime, Crestwood held a 19-6 advantage.

The game broke open in the third quarter.

Crestwood poured in 24 points in the frame, turning a competitive championship atmosphere into a showcase of depth and execution. The ball moved with purpose, and multiple players stepped up offensively — the signature of a team that has trusted its system all season.

Dougherty led the way with 18 points, including three three-pointers, crossing the 1,000-point mark in the process. Jackie Gallagher added 17 points, Charlie Hiller contributed 14, and Jordan Andrews finished with 7 as Crestwood’s balanced attack overwhelmed the Lady Trojans.

For North Pocono, Anna Clementoni paced the offense with 11 points, while Ella Clementoni added 9 points and reached the 1,000-point milestone in her career — an emotional accomplishment on the championship stage. Julia Biko chipped in 8 points, knocking down two shots from beyond the arc, as the Lady Trojans continued to battle until the final horn.

Crestwood doubled North Pocono in field goals (20-10) and controlled the tempo from start to finish. When the final buzzer sounded, the Lady Comets had secured a district title — but not a conclusion.

With the championship trophy in hand, Crestwood now turns its focus to the PIAA state tournament, carrying momentum, confidence, and the belief that its best basketball may still lie ahead.

A title earned at the arena.

Milestones achieved.

And the journey continuing.
