KINGSTON, Pa. — Crestwood continued its impressive run of postseason success Tuesday night, shutting out Dallas 3-0 to capture its seventh consecutive District 2 Class 2A field hockey championship at Wyoming Valley West’s Spartan Stadium.

The Comets delivered a dominant defensive performance while using a pair of third-quarter goals to pull away from the Mountaineers in the District 2/4 Class 2A championship matchup.

Crestwood controlled possession for much of the contest, holding Dallas without a shot or penalty corner while generating 12 shots and 17 penalty corners of its own.

Addison Korpusik opened the scoring with 8:06 remaining in the first quarter, converting a penalty corner opportunity off an assist from Kasey Obes to give the Comets an early 1-0 advantage.

Despite facing consistent offensive pressure, Dallas remained within striking distance throughout the opening half.

Mountaineers goalkeeper Alyssa Traver helped keep the deficit manageable, turning away several Crestwood opportunities as the Comets carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Crestwood eventually created separation in the third quarter.

Obes extended the advantage to 2-0 with 6:38 remaining in the period, finding the top of the cage after creating an opening in the Dallas defense.

The Comets struck again with 1:51 left in the third when Kamryn Kelly redirected a shot from Obes following a penalty corner, pushing the lead to 3-0.

Obes finished with a goal and two assists, contributing to all three Crestwood scores.

Traver recorded nine saves for Dallas, which continued battling defensively despite spending much of the contest under pressure.

The Mountaineers entered the championship as the No. 3 seed after earning a 3-1 semifinal victory over second-seeded Abington Heights.

Crestwood, meanwhile, reached the final following a 10-1 semifinal victory over Wallenpaupack.

Tuesday’s championship extended a remarkable streak for the Comets, who have now captured seven consecutive District 2 Class 2A titles dating back to 2020.

With the victory, Crestwood advances to the PIAA Class 2A state tournament, where the Comets will host the fourth-place qualifier from District 3 in the opening round on Tuesday, November 10.

For Dallas, the loss closes its district championship run after the Mountaineers earned their opportunity to compete for the title with a semifinal upset.
