Cougars Roll On: Valley View Advances with Strong Win Over Montoursville

Valley View continued its postseason momentum Friday night, earning a convincing 58–44 victory over Montoursville in the opening round of the PIAA Class 4A state playoffs.
The Cougars, who secured the District 2 third seed after defeating Wyoming Area in the consolation game, carried that confidence into state play and controlled the contest from the start.
Valley View jumped out to an early lead, taking an 11–9 advantage after the first quarter. The Cougars steadily built on that margin throughout the game, extending their lead to 25–19 by halftime before pulling away in the second half. Valley View outscored Montoursville 33–25 over the final two quarters to secure the double-digit victory.
Junior guard Michael Muto led the way offensively with 20 points, knocking down three three-pointers and providing a consistent scoring presence throughout the night. Jagger Roe added 15 points and was strong at the free throw line, while Noah Symuleski contributed 12 points, including two three-pointers.
Cash Roe chipped in eight points for the Cougars, helping Valley View maintain its offensive rhythm as the game progressed.
Montoursville was led by Isaac Erlandson, who scored a team-high 20 points, including a perfect 10-for-12 performance from the free throw line. Elijah Ek added seven points, while Brennen Imbro finished with five.
Valley View’s balanced attack and efficiency at the line proved to be key factors in the win. The Cougars shot 15-for-23 from the free throw line and knocked down five three-pointers while holding Montoursville to 14 field goals.
With the victory, Valley View advances to the second round of the PIAA Class 4A state tournament and continues a postseason run that began with its strong showing in the District 2 playoffs.
