Corsanico’s Two-Homered, Six-RBI Explosion Powers Newtown Edgmont Past French Creek

A massive seven-run fifth inning and a powerhouse performance at the plate from Charlie Corsanico pushed Newtown Edgmont Major 12U to a decisive 10-2 victory over French Creek in Pennsylvania State Little League Tournament action on Monday.

French Creek struck first in the top of the second inning to grab an early lead. After Calvin Burchill singled and Blake Siverd reached on an error, Henry Graf bunted for a base hit to fill the bases. Mav Adkins then hit a RBI groundout that allowed two runs to score, giving French Creek a 2-0 advantage.

Newtown Edgmont answered back in the bottom of the third frame to jump in front. Luke Piselli earned a walk before Charlie Corsanico stepped into the box and launched a two-run home run over the right-field fence, instantly pushing Newtown Edgmont ahead 3-2.

The game broke wide open in the bottom of the fifth as Newtown Edgmont blew the contest open with an unrelenting seven-run surge. After three consecutive walks loaded the bases, Corsanico delivered the crowning blow of the afternoon, crushing a grand slam to right field for his second home run of the game. The offensive carousel continued as Jamie Lukach singled, Logan Harfst walked, and Graeme Geary drove in a run with an RBI single. Benny Rosci followed with an RBI groundout, and Reid Arland punctuated the inning with a hard-hit RBI double to extend the lead to 10-2.

Luke Piselli got the start on the mound for Newtown Edgmont, giving up three hits and two unearned runs across 3.1 innings while striking out five. John Sirolli provided stellar relief work, tossing two shutout innings with four strikeouts, while Benny Rosci closed out the victory in the sixth.

Sebastian Kollar started for French Creek, allowing one run and striking out four over 1.2 innings. Sully Richards recorded a double for French Creek, while Copelan Keller, Calvin Burchill, and Henry Graf each picked up hits in the contest.
