Crestwood Junior High Comets delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday, routing Wilkes Barre JH Wolfpack with a final score of 17 to 0. The Comets' bats came alive early and often, highlighted by a massive 11-run second inning and a grand slam from Addison Ciocco. Ciocco was a force at the plate, driving in six runs on just one hit, demonstrating an incredible ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
The decisive second inning saw a parade of Comets crossing the plate. Brynley McShea drew a walk that scored a run, followed by two runs scoring on an error. Fallon Stavish grounded out to bring in another run, and Ciocco tagged up to score. Emma Woolbert then drew a walk for another run, and Morgan Weiss singled, driving in two more. Stavish walked again, adding another run, and Alex Fromm was hit by a pitch, pushing another run across the plate. Crestwood wasn't finished, adding six more runs in the third inning to cement their commanding lead. Weiss notched another two RBIs with a single before Ciocco blasted her grand slam to right field, putting an exclamation mark on the offensive explosion.
On the mound, Fallon Stavish was unhittable for Crestwood, earning the win with a masterful performance. She pitched three hitless, scoreless innings, striking out eight batters and walking just one. For Wilkes Barre JH Wolfpack, Piper Farrell took the loss, allowing 17 runs (eight earned) on four hits over two innings, while striking out one and walking 15.
Morgan Weiss was a standout at the plate for Crestwood, collecting two hits in two at bats. The Comets showed exceptional plate discipline throughout the game, accumulating an impressive 15 walks. Fallon Stavish and Emma Woolbert each contributed significantly to the base paths, leading the team with three walks apiece. Crestwood also showcased a flawless defensive effort, committing no errors, with Alex Fromm making a game-high eight plays.
Crestwood Junior High Comets will look to carry this momentum into their next game at home on Friday against Hazleton Area Lady Cougars MS.
