Whoa, what a game! The Abington Heights Comets totally brought the drama on Saturday, pulling off an insane 4-3 walk-off win against the Freedom Patriots. Seriously, you couldn't write a script better than this. The score was locked up at three in the bottom of the eighth, and then bam! Avary Brister ripped a double, bringing in the winning run and sending everyone absolutely bonkers.
The Freedom Patriots actually got things rolling early, snagging a run in the first inning after an error. But the Abington Heights Comets were like, "Nah, not today!" Avary Brister grounded out, but it was enough to score a run and tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. Talk about quick answers!
Fast forward to the bottom of the fourth, and the Abington Heights Comets decided it was time to put some distance between them and the Patriots. Isabella DeRiggi crushed a double, scoring one run, and then Riley McColligan followed up with a fielder's choice that brought another run home. Just like that, Abington Heights was up 3-1.
But hold up, the Freedom Patriots weren't ready to throw in the towel. In the top of the sixth, they clawed their way back, tying the game at three. Izabella Raynor got a run on a fielder's choice, and then a wild pitch brought in another. It was a rollercoaster!
Adrianna Condrad was a total boss on the mound for the Abington Heights Comets, earning the win. She kept her cool, giving up just seven hits and three runs (only two earned) over a full eight innings, racking up eight strikeouts and walking three. On the other side, Madison Bixler took the tough loss for the Freedom Patriots. She pitched for seven and one-third innings, allowing four runs on six hits, with seven strikeouts and two walks. Both pitchers battled hard, for real!
The Abington Heights Comets were totally clutch with their defense, turning two awesome double plays throughout the game.
