CLASSICS GIRLS BASKETBALL CAMP RETURNS TO SCRANTON PREP THIS JULY

For young basketball players looking to improve their game this summer, one of Northeast Pennsylvania’s biggest opportunities is heading back to the hardwood.
The Classics Girls Basketball Camp returns July 20–23 at the Xavier Center on the campus of Scranton Prep. Open to girls entering grades 4–8, the camp runs daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and has grown into the largest girls-only basketball camp in NEPA.
Directed by Bob Beviglia, Head Girls Basketball Coach at Scranton Prep, the camp reflects many of the same principles that have helped make the Classics one of the area’s most respected girls basketball programs — strong fundamentals, defensive intensity, player development, and a competitive environment.
Now entering its fifth year, the camp gives players a complete basketball experience each day through offensive and defensive skill development, scrimmages, game competition, and guest speakers. Past guest speakers have included college coaches from across the Northeast, giving campers valuable exposure and insight into the next levels of the game.
This year’s staff brings back two names that helped define one of the most successful eras in Scranton Prep girls basketball history.
Joining camp instruction are 2021 Scranton Prep graduates Cecelia Collins and Rachael Rose. Collins went on to graduate from Columbia University and is currently playing professionally in Germany, while Rose starred at Clemson University and earned Southern Conference Player of the Year honors. Widely regarded among the most accomplished players in program history, both return to help teach and inspire the next generation of local athletes.
For campers, the opportunity goes beyond drills and games. It’s a chance to learn directly from coaches and players who have competed and succeeded at high levels while building confidence, improving fundamentals, and developing a deeper love for the game.
