Hannah Chipego displayed her command and intensity in the circle, leading her team to a 4-1 victory over St. Marys in a non-conference game. The pitcher went the full seven innings, giving up no hits, striking out 14, and walking only two. Chipego displayed her insane offensive power in her first at bat when she hit a home run. Chipego also caused chaos on the base paths, using her immense speed to steal a base and lead Lehman with two runs scored. Chipego’s no-hitter wasn’t even her greatest accomplishment in the game. With her stolen base, Chipego recorded her 100th career stolen base. However, Chipego wasn’t the only Lehman player to reach a major career milestone in their game.
Lehman senior catcher Kaitlyn Brudnicki also hit a home run in the Lake Lehman victory. This bomb marked her 100th career hit. Both Brudnicki and Chipego have been leading the Lehman program since they were freshmen, and they are hoping to lead the team back to the district championship again this year. It wasn’t just the seniors who led Lehman. Their offensive performance showed off the talented group of underclassmen they have.
Freshman outfielder Ella Andrews led Lehman with two hits in three at bats. Freshman infielder Julia Sholtis tacked on a hit and RBI in the win. Sophomore Brooke Reilly also had an RBI in the win.
Fledderman earned the loss for St. Marys. The pitcher went six innings, giving up seven hits, four earned runs, five walks, and five strikeouts.
Lehman is hoping to continue their winning streak when they face Nanticoke Area at home on Tuesday.
