Carbino Club Archbald Claims District 32 Minors Championship, Advances to Section 5
BLAKELY, Pa. — Championship baseball lived up to the moment Saturday afternoon at Blakely Recreational Complex as two talented District 32 Minors All-Star teams put on a pitching clinic before Carbino Club Archbald pulled away late for a 3-1 victory over Mid Valley to capture the District 32 Championship.
With a trip to next week’s Section 5 Tournament in Drums on the line, every pitch mattered.
Carbino broke through first in the bottom of the second inning when Chase Williams lined a run-scoring single to give his club a 1-0 advantage.
Mid Valley answered in championship fashion during the fourth. Eddie Marushock reached base and eventually crossed the plate on a wild pitch, knotting the game at 1-1 and setting up a dramatic finish.
The deciding rally came in the bottom of the fifth.
A clutch RBI single down the left-field line by Michael Fenton put Carbino back in front before John Canjar added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly, extending the lead to 3-1.
On the mound, Owen Wiseman was sensational.
The right-hander fired five innings, allowing just one hit, one run, and striking out 10 while walking only two. Wiseman also helped lead the offense, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and consistently setting the tone from the leadoff spot.
Carbino finished with eight hits as Cody Borusiewicz, Ari Mills, Chase Williams, Landon Eremo, and Michael Fenton all contributed base hits. Borusiewicz and Wiseman each doubled, while Fenton anchored the defense with a game-high 11 fielding chances. The District champions also played a clean game defensively, committing no errors.
Mid Valley received another outstanding championship effort from Evan Merrifield, who kept his club in the game by allowing just two runs (one earned) over four strong innings while striking out four. Cayson Lukowski worked the final inning in relief.
At the plate, Ivan Sklareski collected Mid Valley’s lone hit as the pitching duel kept both offenses in check throughout the afternoon.
While only one team could lift the championship banner, both clubs showcased the heart, sportsmanship, and determination that make Little League postseason baseball so special.
For Carbino Club Archbald, however, the celebration continues.
The District 32 champions now turn their attention to Drums, where they’ll proudly represent the district in next week’s Section 5 Tournament with hopes of extending an unforgettable All-Star summer.
