Brayden Rose took the snap, spotted an opening through the middle, and broke into the clear for a 54-yard touchdown sprint that shattered a scoreless second quarter and permanently shifted the game's momentum. That explosive burst triggered a relentless offensive surge as Riverside powered past Susquehanna 42-7 in Lackawanna Football Conference action.
Following a tightly contested, scoreless opening frame where both defensive units held firm at the line of scrimmage, the Vikings found their footing in the second period. Charlie Anstett ignited the scoring with a 26-yard touchdown dash, followed shortly by Rose connecting with Tyler Grill on a 5-yard scoring toss. When Rose added his 54-yard scamper moments later, Riverside had piled up 21 unanswered points before halftime, supported by Christian Wheeler converting every extra-point attempt.
Riverside carried that energy straight into the third quarter. Rose added two more touchdown runs, crossing the goal line from 21 yards and 2 yards out to cap a remarkable performance featuring 131 rushing yards on 10 carries. Carmelo Barnett delivered the longest play of the night when he found space on the perimeter and went 68 yards untouched to the end zone.
Susquehanna showed resilience and answered in the third quarter, putting together a scoring drive capped by a 28-yard touchdown pass that put the Sabers on the board. The Sabers worked diligently on the ground across 34 rushing attempts while compiling 61 passing yards through the air.
Defensively, Riverside was anchored by Exavier Pelton, who recorded six solo tackles, an assist, and four tackles for loss. Markus Ngongo and Chris Fox each collected a sack and two tackles for loss, while D. Joseph secured an interception. Markus Ngongo and Charlie Anstett also contributed fumble recoveries to disrupt Susquehanna drives and preserve the lead.
With 305 rushing yards and balanced execution across all three phases, the Vikings closed out the contest with total control of the field.
