Blue Knights Rally Late to Conquer Royals in Thrilling Contest

Wyoming Seminary College Prep Blue Knights rallied late to secure a narrow 6-5 victory over the Holy Redeemer Royals on Tuesday, snatching the lead in the top of the seventh inning. Facing a one-run deficit, Ryan Finlay stepped up with a crucial double, driving in two runs to put the Blue Knights ahead for good.

The Blue Knights were quick to make an impact, getting on the scoreboard in the top of the first. Nieko Ravaioli grounded out to bring in the first run, followed by a single from John Comitz that scored another, giving Wyoming Seminary College Prep an early lead. However, Holy Redeemer was quick to respond, jumping into the lead in the bottom of the second. Connor Krakosky drew a walk, and Dominic Marranca singled to center field, each contributing an RBI to turn the tide.

The back-and-forth battle continued as Leo Nockley blasted a home run to center field in the top of the fourth, giving Wyoming Seminary College Prep a 4-3 advantage. The Royals, however, refused to back down, tying the game at four in the bottom of the fifth. Holy Redeemer then took a slim 5-4 lead in the sixth inning when Dominic Marranca singled, bringing in another run. But the Blue Knights had the final say, with Ryan Finlay's seventh-inning heroics proving decisive.

Caleb Aponick earned the win on the mound for Wyoming Seminary College Prep, allowing just two hits and one run over two innings while striking out four and walking one. Ryan Finlay started for the Blue Knights, pitching five innings and surrendering five hits and four runs (two earned), striking out four and walking three. For Holy Redeemer, Cole Ricko took the loss in relief, going three innings and giving up two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking two. Starting pitcher Reilly Hossage tossed four innings for the Royals, allowing six hits and four runs, with five strikeouts and four walks.

Offensively, Wyoming Seminary College Prep Blue Knights compiled 10 hits in the game, demonstrating strong plate discipline with six walks and an impressive 13 stolen bases. Ryan Finlay, John Comitz, and Cash Hanson-Richart each collected two hits, while Finlay and Leo Nockley drove in two runs apiece. George Rolland led the team with two walks, and George Rolland, John Comitz, Alec Weinberger, Leo Nockley, and Cash Hanson-Richart each stole two bases. Holy Redeemer Royals registered seven hits. Dominic Marranca and Reilly Hossage each had two hits, with Marranca leading the Royals with two runs batted in. Garrett Yakimowicz stole two bases, contributing to Holy Redeemer's total of four stolen bases for the game. Defensively, Holy Redeemer played an error-free game, with Blake Dunsmuir recording nine chances in the field.


Player of the Game

Ryan Finlay of Wyoming Seminary College Prep Blue Knights is named Player of the Game for his pivotal role in securing the victory. Not only did Finlay pitch five solid innings as the starter, but he also delivered the clutch two-run double in the top of the seventh inning that ultimately put his team ahead for good. His performance both on the mound and at the plate was instrumental in the Blue Knights' comeback win.
