Great teams often reveal their character in the toughest moments.
On Saturday night, Old Forge showed exactly what kind of team it is.
After a slow start and an emotional moment when senior Ryan DeMarco was forced to leave the game with an injury, the Blue Devils regrouped and delivered a gritty comeback to defeat Delone Catholic, 51–39, in the PIAA Class 2A Quarterfinals, punching their ticket to the state Final Four.
Delone Catholic controlled the early tempo, holding Old Forge to just six points in the opening quarter while building a 13–6 lead. The Blue Devils gradually found their footing in the second quarter before their defense began to take over the game.
By the second half, Old Forge had settled in. The Blue Devils clamped down defensively, forced tough possessions, and slowly turned the momentum their way before pulling away in the fourth quarter with a 16–10 scoring advantage.
Senior guard Cameron Parker led the charge with 21 points, delivering big baskets and steady leadership throughout the comeback. Cam Krushnowski added 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers to spark the Blue Devils offensively. Logan Fanning chipped in five points, while key minutes from Bobby Solfanelli, Arthur Askew, and Nick Salerno helped Old Forge maintain its defensive intensity.
But the night carried extra emotion.
When DeMarco went down during the game, the atmosphere shifted. DeMarco, a senior leader and respected presence on the team, has been a player who embodies the toughness and pride of Old Forge basketball — both on and off the court.
His teammates responded the best way they knew how: by digging deeper.
Every defensive stop, every rebound, and every basket down the stretch seemed fueled by the energy of a team determined to finish the fight together.
That unity has defined Old Forge’s postseason run — and it continues to carry the Blue Devils forward.
With the victory, Old Forge advances to the PIAA Class 2A Semifinals, just one win away from playing for a state championship.
And if Saturday night proved anything, it’s that this Blue Devils team has the heart — and the togetherness — to keep their remarkable run going.
