WILKES-BARRE — You could feel it early.
The shots were falling. The defense was swarming. The bench was alive.
And by the end of the first quarter, it was clear this was going to be Old Forge’s night.
On the biggest stage in District 2 at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Old Forge didn’t just win the 2A boys championship — they owned it. The Blue Devils raced out to a 26-4 lead after one quarter, stretched it to 43-12 at halftime, and never let the moment slip away in a 69-34 victory over Susquehanna.
There was no panic. No rush. Just a group of seniors who looked comfortable, confident, and ready.
Cameron Parker led the way with 24 points, knocking down shots and playing with the poise of someone who’s been waiting for this moment. Logan Fanning added 14 points inside, finishing through contact and controlling the glass. Nick Salerno chipped in 14 more, spacing the floor and keeping the pressure on every time Susquehanna tried to regroup.
But this wasn’t just about scoring.
It was about defense — the kind that makes an opponent uncomfortable from the opening tip. Old Forge contested everything, rotated hard, and turned stops into easy buckets in transition. The early run didn’t just build a lead — it drained the energy from the other side.
To Susquehanna’s credit, they kept battling. Griffin Fisk finished with 15 points and Hudson Stengel added six, but the early hole was simply too deep against a team playing with this much focus.
As the fourth quarter wound down, the emotion started to shift from intensity to realization.
This was it.
The horn sounded. The bench emptied. Players hugged at midcourt. Smiles replaced the game faces.
For this group of Blue Devils, it wasn’t just about winning — it was about finishing. Finishing what they started months ago. Finishing for their school. Finishing together.
On this night, under the lights, Old Forge didn’t just capture a championship.
They earned it.
