Berwick’s season came to a close Monday night with a 4-1 loss to Wallenpaupack Area, as the Bulldogs finished the 2026 campaign with a 10-11 record after a hard-fought road matchup against the Buckhorns.

Berwick struck first in the opening inning, manufacturing an early 1-0 lead behind timely hitting and aggressive base running. Despite collecting four hits on the evening, however, the Bulldogs were unable to break through again against Wallenpaupack starter A. Laing and reliever A. Babyak.

Laing kept Berwick off balance throughout his six innings of work, allowing just four hits and one unearned run while striking out two. Babyak closed the door in the seventh inning to secure the victory for the Buckhorns.

For much of the game, Berwick appeared poised to pull out a tight victory thanks to a strong effort from pitcher M. Brown. The Bulldogs’ right-hander tossed six innings and allowed only three hits while striking out three. All four Wallenpaupack runs were unearned, as defensive miscues proved costly for Berwick in the decisive fifth inning.

The game remained scoreless after Berwick’s first-inning run until the Buckhorns broke through in the bottom of the fifth. Wallenpaupack capitalized on Bulldog errors and timely hitting to score three runs and take control of the game. The Buckhorns added an insurance run in the sixth inning for the final margin.

E. Welsh led Wallenpaupack offensively with a perfect 2-for-2 performance and an RBI, while M. Haynes delivered the biggest hit of the night with a run-scoring triple. R. Anderson and S. Decker also contributed hits for the Buckhorns.

Berwick’s offense was paced by A. Klahold, who went 1-for-3, while L. Belles added a hit and scored the Bulldogs’ lone run. The Bulldogs stranded four runners on base and were limited to just one extra-base hit opportunity throughout the contest.

Although the season ended in disappointment, Berwick battled through a competitive schedule and closed the year with double-digit victories. Monday’s game showcased the Bulldogs’ resilience on the mound, but defensive errors and missed offensive opportunities ultimately proved to be the difference in the season finale.
