Baseball Action: Bloomsburg Falls to Warrior Run 8-1

Warrior Run secured a decisive 8-1 victory over Bloomsburg in a home conference baseball game on Monday. The Defenders put on a strong offensive display, accumulating 12 hits and scoring in four different innings, while their pitching staff stifled the Bloomsburg offense to just three hits.

The Defenders got on the scoreboard early, plating one run in the first inning. They broke the game open with a three run second inning, followed by another three runs in the third to take a commanding 7-1 lead. Warrior Run added a final run in the sixth inning. Cohen Zechman was a standout at the plate for Warrior Run, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a triple, scoring two runs and driving in three. Collin Brandt also had a productive day, collecting two hits, including a double, and contributing two RBI. Logan Stevenson added two hits and an RBI, while Jackson Bowers chipped in with two hits and a run scored. Colton Ritenour reached base three times with a hit and two walks, scoring two runs, and G. Harrington also scored twice after drawing three walks.

Bloomsburg’s lone run came in the third inning. Brayden Holbert led the Bloomsburg offense with two hits in three at bats. Brady Hendricks recorded the team's only RBI with a single, and also contributed a stolen base. Clayton Lunger picked up a hit and a stolen base.

On the mound for Warrior Run, James Keifer delivered a dominant performance, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out ten batters. Tyler Ulrich closed out the game effectively, pitching 1.2 hitless innings, walking one, and striking out four. For Bloomsburg, Jack Bettinger pitched two scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out two. Conner Haydt, H. Hunsinger, and JD Klingerman also saw action on the mound.

Warrior Run's strong pitching limited Bloomsburg to a .167 team batting average, with Bloomsburg batters striking out 14 times. Warrior Run batters, conversely, hit .444 as a team and drew eight walks.
