COVINGTON TWP., PA — The first-ever combined Majors All-Star team representing North Pocono Dandy Lion and Jefferson Township Little League is bringing home a championship.

Powered by a dominant outing from Aubrey Gebhardt in the circle and an offense that struck early, North Pocono defeated Dingman Delaware Little League 10-0 Wednesday evening to capture the District 17 Majors Softball Championship.

The victory completed a two-game sweep of the best-of-three championship series and sends North Pocono to the Section 5 Tournament, where it will face the champions from Districts 16, 31, and 32.

North Pocono wasted little time taking command. Payton Schmidt delivered an RBI double in the opening inning before Gebhardt followed with a two-run single to give the hosts a quick 3-0 lead.

The offense kept rolling in the second inning. Kendal Barbour and Reagan Richards each drove in a run with singles before Arya Ameika added an RBI single. Payton Schmidt capped the four-run frame with a sacrifice fly as North Pocono stretched its advantage to 7-0.

North Pocono added another run in the third before scoring twice in the fourth to seal the district title.

Gebhardt was outstanding from the opening pitch, tossing a four-inning complete-game shutout. The right-hander allowed just five hits, struck out nine, walked one, and threw 46 strikes on 66 pitches in a commanding championship performance.

The offense backed her with nine hits. Gebhardt and Arya Ameika each finished with two hits, while Schmidt collected two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Brianna Briskie, Kendal Barbour, Nora Havenstrite, and Reagan Richards each added a hit as North Pocono consistently put pressure on the bases throughout the evening.

Dingman Delaware was paced by Tory D, who went 2-for-2 at the plate. Sophia G, Jayleen H, and Alexis P also recorded hits.

The championship carries added significance, as this summer marked the inaugural All-Star season in which players from North Pocono Dandy Lion and Jefferson Township Little League competed together under one North Pocono banner. While the two organizations operate independently during the regular Little League season, the combined All-Star roster immediately found success, capturing a District 17 title in its first postseason together.

The championship roster includes Arya Ameika, Kendal Barbour, Brianna Briskie, Gianna Gaus, Aubrey Gebhardt, Nora Havenstrite, Frankie Nails, Emma Nicholson, Reagan Richards, Payton Schmidt, Alivia Strauser, and Anna Tucky.

Now crowned District 17 champions, North Pocono advances to the Section 5 Tournament with momentum and the opportunity to continue an already memorable All-Star run. For a group that came together only after the regular season concluded, the future is bright for softball in the North Pocono community.
