OLD FORGE — A decisive fourth-quarter surge and a barrage of three-pointers propelled Old Forge to a 51–41 victory over Lakeland on Monday night in a Division III girls’ basketball matchup.
Senior guard Ava Arnold led the way with 19 points, knocking down five three-pointers, including three triples in the final quarter to break the game open. Old Forge carried a slim edge into the fourth before outscoring Lakeland 16–5 in the decisive frame.
Old Forge finished the night with eight three-pointers and shot 19 field goals overall, matching Lakeland at the free-throw line with five makes on nine attempts. Mia Fox added 14 points, while Mikaela Lehman chipped in 11 points, including three shots from beyond the arc, to round out a balanced scoring effort for the Lady Devils, who improved to 4–5 overall and 1–2 in league play.
Lakeland was led by Kamri Naniewicz, who poured in 22 points, and Naomi Rude, who added 12 points. Despite staying within striking distance through three quarters, Lakeland couldn’t keep pace with Old Forge’s perimeter shooting late and fell to 4–7 overall and 0–3 in the division.
The win showcased Old Forge’s ability to close games behind timely shooting and composure, while Lakeland showed flashes of resilience before the Lady Devils’ late run sealed the outcome.
