Mountain Top 11s All-Stars secured a 10-6 victory over Valley West 11s on Sunday at Whispering Willows Park.
Valley West 11s opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when Sofia Panzerella hit into a fielder's choice, bringing in one run. Mountain Top quickly answered in the bottom of the first, putting up five runs on four hits to claim a 5-1 lead. A significant moment in the inning was Henry Arcangeli's three-run home run to center field.
Mountain Top expanded its advantage in the second inning as Zachary Olshefski's ground out contributed another run, making the score 6-1. The team continued to build on its lead in the third inning, with Ashton Cook and William Gagliardi each singling, and Zachary Stahlnecker hitting a sacrifice fly, all contributing to the scoring.
On the mound for Mountain Top, William Gagliardi pitched three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking six. Opposing batters collected one hit and scored three runs, with two of those earned, against him. Zachary Stahlnecker entered in relief for Mountain Top. For Valley West, Dylan Klatka pitched four innings, recording one strikeout and issuing three walks. Mountain Top's offense was effective against Dylan Klatka, collecting nine hits and scoring 10 runs, with seven earned, during his time on the mound.
Henry Arcangeli was a key offensive force for Mountain Top, leading the team with three runs batted in, going 1-for-2 at the plate, which included his home run. William Gagliardi and Matthew Hummel each collected two hits for Mountain Top. Defensively, Ashton Cook contributed with a double play.
For Valley West, Jake Kramer and Dylan Klatka each had a productive day at the plate, collecting two hits apiece. Jake Kramer also led his team with two runs batted in, going 2-for-3. Hunter Judge demonstrated patience at the plate, drawing two walks. Valley West batters collectively earned six walks throughout the game.
Mountain Top is scheduled to play Hazle Township on Thursday. Valley West will visit Hazle Township on Tuesday.
