RIVERSIDE — Riverside opened the PIAA Class 3A state playoffs in dominant fashion Saturday, defeating Mifflinburg Area 74–50 to advance to the second round.
The Vikings wasted little time taking control, jumping out to a 25–11 lead in the first quarter and maintaining that momentum throughout the night. Riverside continued to extend the lead in the third quarter behind a strong offensive push and sharp perimeter shooting.
Sophomore standout Nico Antoniacci delivered a huge performance, pouring in a game-high 36 points. Antoniacci knocked down five three-pointers, scored 10 field goals, and went a perfect 11-for-11 from the free-throw line to lead the Vikings.
Kyle Connor added 18 points, burying six three-pointers, while Brayden Rose chipped in 12 points, including six made free throws.
Riverside connected on 13 three-pointers as a team, controlling the tempo and keeping Mifflinburg on its heels throughout the game.
Mifflinburg was led by Brennen Snyder with 18 points, while Jackson Griffith added 12 and Chad Martin finished with 11.
With the victory, Riverside advances to the Round of 16 in the PIAA Class 3A state playoffs, where the Vikings will face the winner of Math Civics & Sciences Charter and High School of the Future on Wednesday at a site to be determined.
