100lbs: Lackawanna Trail’s Cidney Schaffer (FR) over Greater Nanticoke’s Matilda Serrano (JR) (F. 1:10)
Schaffer, the 8th seed from Lackawanna Trail, came into this tournament looking to dominate. Schaffer met with the 1st seed, Western Wayne’s Rheagan Wargo, for her first match, winning by a second period fall. Schaffer also defeated the returning champ, Hanover Area’s Claire Gyle, in the semifinals with a first period fall. Serrano, the 2nd seed and last year’s runner up, pushed through her side of the bracket to make it to the finals. This finals match was intriguing and very eye catching. Serrano started off strongly, getting the first takedown in the first 14 seconds. But Schaffer was not going to give up, achieving a reversal and getting her pin to win.
106lbs: Wallenpaupack’s Rosa SanClementi (JR) over Western Wayne’s Mia Gifford (SR) (DEC. 11-1)
Gifford, a 2x champion and the 1st seed from Western Wayne, ran straight through her side of the bracket with all pins. SanClementi, the 3rd seed from Wallenpaupack, was determined to reach the top of the podium. SanClementi knocked out the 2nd seed, Penelope Serrano from Greater Nanticoke, with a second period fall. In the finals, SanClementi was the aggressor, looking to score. Gifford could not keep up with SanClementi’s pace.
112lbs: Greater Nanticoke’s Emily Kivler (SO) over Wallenpaupack’s Gia Silva (JR) (F. 1:32)
Kivler, last year’s champion and 1st seed from Greater Nanticoke, ran straight through her side of the bracket with all pins within the first period. Silva, last year’s runner up and the 2nd seed from Wallenpaupack, also ran through her side of the bracket with all pins. In the finals, Silva was hit with two stalling calls in the first minute. Kivler, the aggressor, accomplished the first takedown and secured a fall in the first period.
118lbs: Crestwood’s Rachel Shoemaker (SR) over Hazelton Area’s Kayla Torres (SR) (F. 1:20)
Crestwood’s Rachel Shoemaker, the 1st seed and last year’s champion at 124lbs, came into this tournament with a determined mindset. Shoemaker ran through her side of the bracket with all pins and only a single point being scored on her. Hazelton Area’s Kayla Torres, the 3rd seed, also pinned all of her opponents, including the 2nd seed, Wilkes Barre Area’s Savannah Gonzalez. In the finals, Shoemaker came out as the aggressor by scoring the first takedown and getting Torres on her back in the first period.
124lbs: Honesdale’s Saige Olver (SR) over Hazelton Area’s Valerie Bustillo (SO) (DEC. 10-5)
This bracket was full of very talented girls. Honesdale’s Saige Olver, the 1st seed, 2025 state placer at 118lbs, and last year’s champion at 118lbs, dominated all of her matches up until the finals. Hazelton Area’s Valerie Bustillo, the 2nd seed and last year placed 3rd at 112lbs, came in determined to win. In the semifinals, Bustillo faced the 3rd seed, Hanover Area’s Kaidence Ankner, last year’s champion at 130lbs. Bustillo ended the match with a third period pin, earning her a spot in the finals. Bustillo had already faced Olver twice this season, losing by a fall and a technical fall, but this time she did not back down. In the finals, Olver started off strong, receiving the first takedown and earning nearfall points. In the second period, Bustillo answered with a takedown. In the third, Olver scored the final takedown, with Bustillo getting a reversal. It was an exciting, eventful match filled with determination.
130lbs: Hazelton Area’s Shaniece Brown (SR) over Wilkes Barre Area’s Jacqueline Hernandez (SO) (F. 1:09)
Hazelton Area’s Shaniece Brown, the 1st seed and last year’s runner up at 124lbs, defeated all of her opponents on the way to the finals by first period pin. Wilkes Barre Area’s Jacqueline Hernandez, the 2nd seed and last year placed 3rd at 148lbs, also pinned her way through her side of the bracket to make it to the finals. In the finals, both were aggressive off the whistle. Brown got the first takedown and finished the pin.
136lbs: Western Wayne’s Adysen Wargo (JR) over Delaware Valley’s Keira Snyder (FR) (SV. 7-4)
Western Wayne’s Adysen Wargo, the 2nd seed, fought hard through her side of the bracket to earn a spot in the finals. Delaware Valley’s Keira Snyder, the 5th seed, ran through her first two matches of the tournament. In the semifinals, Snyder ran into Crestwood’s Emma Selfe, the 1st seed, and pulled off an epic 3-1 win to reach the finals. In the finals, both girls were hit with multiple stall warnings. Wargo gave up two stalling points and an escape in the second period. In the third, Wargo got a takedown to tie it 3-3 and send it to sudden victory. Wargo ended it fast, scoring a takedown 15 seconds into overtime to earn her District 2 title.
142lbs: Wyoming Area’s Martina Bonning (FR) over Hazelton Area’s Kaiden McFarland (JR) (F. 1:25)
Wyoming Area’s Martina Bonning, the 1st seed as only a freshman, entered her first District 2 championship with one goal, standing on top of the podium. She pinned every opponent on her side of the bracket to reach the finals. Hazelton Area’s Kaiden McFarland, the 2nd seed, also pinned her way to the finals, all within the first period. In the finals, Bonning came out as the aggressor, scored the first takedown, and secured the fall in the first period.
148lbs: Honesdale’s Maddison Miller (SO) over Delaware Valley’s Ella Smith (SR) (F. 0:56)
Honesdale’s Maddison Miller, the 1st seed, 2025 state placer at 142lbs, and last year’s runner up at 142lbs, was ready to get on top of the podium after falling short last season. Miller ran through her side of the bracket with all first period pins. Delaware Valley’s Ella Smith, the 3rd seed, pinned all of her matches before the third period to earn her spot in the finals. The finals ended quickly, with Miller scoring the first takedown and getting the pin in the first period.
155lbs: Abington Heights’ Hayden Manning (FR) over Honesdale’s Leonora Orellana Anton (SO) (F. 1:22)
Abington Heights’ Hayden Manning, the 1st seed, pinned her way straight to the finals. Honesdale’s Leonora Orellana Anton, the 3rd seed, faced the 2nd seed, Western Wayne’s Meghan Rath, in the semifinals. Orellana Anton came out aggressive and scored first in a tough match, then secured a third period fall to reach the finals. In the finals, Manning locked in early and secured the first period pin to claim the district title as a freshman.
170lbs: Delaware Valley’s Kate Prior (SR) over Nanticoke Area’s Sierra Ripka (SR) (DEC. 6-3)
Delaware Valley’s Kate Prior, the 1st seed, 2025 state 3rd place at 155lbs, and last year’s champion at 155lbs, needed only a semifinal win to reach the finals. Prior won by second period fall to advance. Nanticoke Area’s Sierra Ripka, the 2nd seed, 2025 state 5th place, and last year’s returning champion, also needed just a semifinal win and earned it with a first period fall, setting up a district championship rematch from 2024. In the finals, Ripka came out aggressive and the first period ended scoreless. In the second, Ripka earned a takedown. In the third, Ripka chose bottom, and Prior swung the match with six nearfall points to beat the returning champion.
190lbs: Wilkes Barre Area’s Avah Jobarteh (FR) over Wallenpaupack’s Mya Statile (JR) (F. 0:34)
Wilkes Barre Area’s Avah Jobarteh, the 1st seed, put together a strong freshman season and kept it rolling at districts. Jobarteh won her semifinal by fall in 19 seconds to reach the finals. Wallenpaupack’s Mya Statile, the 2nd seed, won her semifinal in the first period to advance. In the finals, Jobarteh wasted no time, securing a fall in 34 seconds to earn her district title.
235lbs: Hazelton Area’s Evelyn Sheer (FR) over Crestwood’s Samara Bailey (JR) (F. 4:21)
Hazelton Area’s Evelyn Sheer, AKA “The Pink Nightmare,” the 1st seed, started off strong with a 27 second pin in the semifinals to advance to the finals. Crestwood’s Samara Bailey, the 2nd seed and last year’s runner up, also picked up a quick 24 second pin to reach the finals. The championship bout was wild, featuring multiple takedowns and reversals. Sheer scored the first takedown and kept pushing the pace. By the final period, the score was 23-9. Sheer closed it out with a pin in the first 19 seconds of the third period to earn her district title.
