Valley View’s Zoie Krupovich had herself a day to remember on Wednesday, delivering a two-homer, three-RBI performance that powered the Cougars to an 8-2 road victory over Wallenpaupack Area. The win lifted Valley View to 8-1 on the season and cemented Krupovich as the clear standout — earning her the Player of the Game, presented by Nina’s Wing Bites & Pizza.

Krupovich, a force in the heart of the Valley View lineup, went 2-for-4 at the plate with two no-doubt solo shots to left field — one in the fourth and another in the sixth — finishing with six total bases. Her home runs bookended a relentless offensive push from the Cougars, who finished with 13 hits and five stolen bases.

The Cougars struck first in the opening inning when Abbi Call roped a double that scored Kalli Karwowski. Wallenpaupack tied it up briefly in the third on an RBI groundout from pitcher Gabby Hieber, but Krupovich broke the deadlock in the fourth with her first bomb, making it 3-1. Valley View would not trail again.

In the sixth, Krupovich launched her second blast to ignite a three-run frame that put the game out of reach. Karwowskiand Cora Castellani followed with RBI singles to stretch the lead to 8-2. Karwowski was electric all night, going 3-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and three stolen bases.

In the circle, Call earned the win with four strong innings, allowing just two runs on two hits while striking out seven. Taylor Cawley came in to shut the door, striking out seven of the 10 batters she faced over three hitless innings to earn the save.

Valley View’s aggressive approach on the basepaths added pressure throughout, with Ashlyn Palickar and Castellani also swiping bases.

For Wallenpaupack, Lucy Babyak reached base twice and stole two bags. Sarah DeckerMadison Haynes, and Kailyn Kielbasa each added a hit, but the Buckhorns couldn’t solve Valley View’s pitching duo.

Hieber went the distance for Wallenpaupack, allowing 13 hits and eight runs (seven earned), striking out seven in a gritty effort.

The Cougars head into their Friday matchup against Thomas Jefferson with momentum and firepower — especially with Krupovich swinging a red-hot bat.
