In a tightly-contested pitchers’ duel on Wednesday, Valley View came out on top with a 3-0 shutout win over Wallenpaupack, thanks to a stellar performance from senior right-hander Zach Cwalinski, who tossed a complete-game gem.
Cwalinski was dominant on the mound, throwing 93 pitches (66 for strikes) across seven innings, allowing just three hits and no runs. He walked three and struck out eight, keeping the Buckhorns off the board and working through high-pressure moments with poise.

On the offensive side, Valley View broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning. With the game scoreless, Tyler Scoblick ripped a double, and Jonathan Greenburg drew a walk—each eventually coming around to score. Scoblick and catcher Jordan Andino both drove in runs to give the Cougars a lead they would not relinquish.
Gianni Marino, Brayden McConnell, Keith Mercatili, Andino, and Scoblick each chipped in one hit apiece as Valley View tallied five hits in total. Andino, Mercatili, and Scoblick all recorded doubles, with McConnell adding a stolen base.
Wallenpaupack’s Cameron Lynch delivered a strong outing of his own, going six innings while surrendering just five hits and three runs—only one of them earned. He struck out five and walked one on 61 pitches (43 strikes). Despite taking the loss, Lynch was efficient and kept his team in the game throughout.
