DUNMORE — The Week 3 clash between Dunmore and Susquehanna had an emotional subplot, as sophomore Weston Yannone faced his former team for the first time. The Sabers’ 2024 standout, now donning maroon, white, and blue, wasted little time leaving his mark in front of a packed home crowd.

The Bucks dominated from the opening kick, blanking Susquehanna 50-0 in a decisive, lopsided performance. Yannone scored three times, including two defensive touchdowns against his old teammates, a 35-yard interception return in the first quarter and a 75-yard pick-six in the second. He also added a one-yard rushing score to open the game’s scoring.

Quarterback Brady McCormick connected with Jacob Costanzo for a 62-yard strike, while Josef Wolff (42-yard run), Brandon Mecca (1-yard run), and Xavier Burke (3-yard run) all added touchdowns. Dunmore’s defense was suffocating, limiting the Sabers to just 86 total yards and capitalizing on two turnovers.

Beyond the action on the field, the night carried extra meaning. The stands were packed, and Dunmore’s cheerleaders honored the memory of their late classmate, Sonny Crotti, who courageously battled cancer. Each cheerleader wore a glittered “SC3” tattoo on their cheek and matching SC3 hair bows, uniting them with their former classmate in a heartfelt tribute.

With the win, Dunmore improved to 2-1 on the season, the lone blemish coming in an overtime heartbreaker to Riverside on opening night. The Bucks now turn their focus to a marquee Week 4 showdown on the road at Nicholson against Lackawanna Trail. Trail entered Week 3 as District 2’s top-ranked small school and a state playoff contender but is coming off a tough loss to Berwick on Friday.

Susquehanna, still searching for its first win of 2025, will look to rebound when the Sabers host Holy Redeemer next Saturday.
