On a spring afternoon tailor-made for fast times and big marks, Wyoming Area hosted Lake-Lehman and came away with commanding victories in both the girls’ and boys’ competitions. The Lady Warriors rolled to a 110-60 win, while the boys followed suit with a 100.5-57 victory, using a blend of sprint speed, relay chemistry, and field dominance to secure the sweep.
Girls Meet Recap: Gashi Leads the Charge in Multi-Event Domination
Wyoming Area’s girls team showed exceptional depth with victories across the board, powered by a record-setting day from Gashi, who scored in four events. Gashi won the triple jump (36’10”), long jump (17’0”), and discus (103’7”), and took third in the high jump (4’6”) for a whopping 34 individual points.
In the hurdles, L. Campenni of Lake-Lehman opened the meet strong with a 17.50 win in the 100 hurdles, holding off a fast-closing Sancho of WA (17.70), who would later claim the 300m hurdles with the meet’s fastest time of 49.10 seconds. Sancho also helped the 400 relay team earn a second-place finish.
Lenza proved to be a workhorse in the sprints and field events, taking first in the 100m dash (13.80) and earning points in both the triple jump and 300m hurdles. Her efforts complemented Jones, who won the 400m dash (63.90) and ran anchor on the second-place 1600m relay squad.
Distance events also leaned heavily in Wyoming Area’s favor. In the 3200m relay, McKernan and Kearns clocked a 10:06 to edge out Lake-Lehman’s Jones/Palmaoli. Palmaoli got redemption in the 1600m run, taking it in 6:01. Later, she returned to win the 3200m in 13:00 flat.
In field events, Braunstein (LL) soared over the bar at 8’0” to take pole vault, and Biscotto (WA) launched the javelin 91’4”, beating Lake-Lehman’s Lowery by nearly a foot. Gilligan (WA) added a win in the shot put (28’3”), while teammate Fanti placed second in both discus and shot, providing valuable secondary points.
The relay units were sharp, as WA’s Potter and T. Pizano won the 400m relay in 52.77, and Musinski and McKernanclosed the meet with a victory in the 1600m relay (4:22).

Boys Meet Recap: Warriors Win With Power and Precision
The Wyoming Area boys followed their female counterparts with an equally dominant effort, led by a field-event clinic from Jack Gravine, Cronin, and Turner.
Gravine was a triple winner, capturing the 100m dash (11.60), Javelin (173'9”), and anchoring the victorious 400m relay (44.88). Kellum doubled up with a win in the 110m hurdles (16.90) and teamed with Gravine for the relay win, clocking 46.40. He also earned third in the 300m hurdles.
B. Cronin (LL) had an outstanding meet, winning the triple jump (42’11”), and 800m (2:15), and taking part in a victorious 3200m relay with Martin/Lukavitch, who finished in 9:53.
Turner (WA) threw a meet-best 47’7.75” in shot put, and Ben Gravine added another field win with a 135'11" throw in the discus.
Distance runners from both schools made it a battle: Martin/Lukavitch gave Lake-Lehman a win in the 1600m (4:57)and teamed up for second in the 800m behind Cronin. Marti (WA) grinded out a 3200m victory in 11:15, with teammate Walsh just behind.
Speece (WA) took first in the 200m (23.5) and was a key member of the third-place 100m dash and second-place triple jump squads. Cortez (WA) won the pole vault at 8’0”, while Lake-Lehman’s P. Smith cleared 5’6” in the high jump, tying with James (WA).
In relay action, the Warriors owned the 400m relay and showed strong finishes in both the 1600m relay (3:52) and 3200m relay (9:53), where Lake-Lehman narrowly edged out the Warriors.
